The Julius Maximilian
University of Würzburg
is an old traditional
German university. The
first half of the name
is derived from Julius
Echter, the second from
the Bavarian King
Maximilian, who brought
Würzburg and its
university, the 'Alma
Julia', under his rule
in 1814.
Throughout its 600 year
history, Würzburg
University has always
been one of the largest
universities in Germany.
Today it is one of the
four largest in Bavaria
with over 20,000
students. Its
comprehensibility and
integration into a
friendly, charming city
creates an outstanding
atmosphere for students.
In the research
community, the
university is held in
high esteem nationally
and internationally. Due
to famous researchers
like Lexer, Dahn, von
Koelliker, Schwab,
Boveri, Virchow and
Roentgen, who discovered
x-rays here in 1895.
A university's
competitiveness in
academic instruction is
evaluated decisively by
the quality, intensity
and originality of
academic research. Over
6,000 research papers
are published yearly in
Würzburg. Moreover,
there are eight special
research areas, seven
graduate colleges and a
series of other research
areas, groups and
centers.
The MBA program
"Business Integration"
is run by the business
faculty which for many
years has offered
integrated master's
degree programs in
economics and business
management. Furthermore, Würzburg University
initiated a new
bachelor's degree
program in business
information technology
in the year 2000, making
it one of Germany's
pioneers, offering
degree programs based on
the Anglo-Saxon model.

Business Integration
The Executive MBA
"Business Integration"
course of studies prepares
participants
specifically for highly
qualified supervisory
and management tasks
that need to be carried
out within a framework
of constantly changing
economic and social
conditions. This
job-related educational
program can be completed
while working full-time,
leading to the
nationally and
internationally
recognized degree
"Master of Business
Administration".
Long-term valid analysis
procedures and methods
that integrate
specialized knowledge
will be taught.
The study program
concept pursues new ways
to make knowledge
available and to broaden
the individual's
knowledge base by
teaching
interdisciplinary
concepts and developing
new ways of thinking for
the Integration of
Organization and
Information (IOI).
The four semester
program, designed for
students working
full-time, is divided
into 19 block units. The
units with mandatory
attendance requirements
take place in Tehran and Würzburg, Germany.
Experience with past
participants has shown
this organizational form
to be very effective in
meeting the needs of
working students. On the
one hand, the
time-condensed form of
the courses with
mandatory attendance
requirements minimizes
the amount of time
absent from the company.
Travel expenditures for
the participants are
likewise minimized. On
the other hand, the
courses with mandatory
attendance are long
enough to allow for the
internalization of
fundamentally new
information without
distractions of
day-to-day business.
Moreover, in the interim
between the various
modules, participants
can immediately apply
the newly acquired
knowledge and methods in
their companies right
away. The insights
gained during the course
of studies bring
measurable economic
benefits to the
participants and their
employers long before
the program has been
completed. Cooperation
with innovative private
companies and other
universities in Germany
and abroad is an
essential part of the
general concept. Upon
successful completion of
the program, the
academic degree "Master
of Business
Administration" will be
awarded. |
